Docs Tab Exporter – Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
Docs Tab Exporter is a Chrome extension published by JR Digital Works (Justin LeClaire). It exports each tab of a Google Doc you have open as its own PDF, DOCX or Markdown file. This page explains what the extension does and does not do with your data.
Short version
We do not collect, store, sell or share any of your data. The extension has no server, no analytics and no tracking. Your documents go from Google straight to your computer.
What the extension accesses
- The Google Doc open in your current tab. When you open the popup, the extension reads the document's title and its list of tabs from the page on
docs.google.com so it can show them to you.
- Google's own export files. When you click Export, the extension requests each tab's export file (PDF, DOCX or Markdown) from Google Docs, using the Google login already in your browser. It does not see or store your password, and it does not use any separate Google sign-in or OAuth access.
- Files on your computer. The exported files are saved to your Downloads folder, either as one ZIP file or as separate files. If you choose "Save into a folder I pick", Chrome asks you to choose a folder and the extension writes the files only there.
What is stored, and where
- Your preferences (export format, file name template, and whether to save into a picked folder) are saved in Chrome's local extension storage on your own device.
- The progress of an export in progress is kept in Chrome's session storage and is cleared when the export finishes or the browser closes.
- None of this is sent to us or anyone else.
What we do not do
- We do not send your documents, document contents, file names or browsing activity to any server we run. We do not run one.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, cookies or tracking of any kind.
- We do not sell, rent or share data with third parties.
- We do not use or transfer data for purposes unrelated to exporting your document, and we do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
Troubleshooting info
The popup has a "copy debug info" option. It copies technical details (extension version, browser version and the steps of the last export) to your clipboard only. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to paste it into a message yourself.
Google
Exports are made through Google Docs, so Google's own Privacy Policy applies to your use of Google Docs.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
